Dr. A. F. Pinto, Sheriff of Mumbai 2000, the Founder-Chairman of St. Xavier's Group of Schools & Ryan International Schools envisioned for the children of this country a sound sports infrastructure in India, which will augment facilities for training and development and create opportunities for participation in games, sports and athletics at the national and international levels.

Thus the Ryan International Sportsclub was established in the year1998. Manned by experienced, professional coaches, it plays a catalytic role in helping the children and youth to make their dreams of becoming professional sportspersons come true. The objectives of the Ryan International Sportsclub are to promote sports culture amongst youth, to provide direction and guidance in sports, athletics and games and to organize competitive events to identify and nurture individual potential.

Ryan International Sportsclub had the honour of hosting two State Junior Athletic Championships in 2001 and 2002, which were selection trials to pick the Maharashtra team for the National Meet in 2001 and 2002 and also hosting the 2nd National Junior Federation Cup Athletic Championship 2002. This Meet acted as a selection trial for the choice of the Indian Team which participated in the Junior Asian Track & Field in Bangkok in October 2002.

Participation in the Ryan Athletic Meet grew from 1600 participants from 48 schools, colleges and Clubs in 1998, to a record breaking 29100 participants from 245 institutions in 2001, placing it in the Limca Book of Records - Edition 2002, for organizing the largest Track & Field events in India.
